when in amsterdam, i must repeatedly clarify that ‘sit & go’ means poker.

had an odd thing happen at the poker table in amsterdam. small, but odd. i only ended up going to the casino once last week, and then for a puny ten euro sit & go. meh. four days isn’t close to enough. i came in third because i was stupid. calling an all-in with ATo? what the fuck? i should have owned that game. ah well. i made ten euro, and it wasn’t an easy game. they all seemed to know each other.

something very wrong about being in amsterdam and sitting around with a bunch of men...

anyway, the dealer shuffled both decks. i watched him as there wasn’t much else to do other than slide over by the slot machines to smoke now and then. (they only did one sng at a time. order is chosen by drawing receipts or casino cards from a hat. i was thirteenth, so third seat in the second tourney. i watched the first game which took about an hour, then had to wait another half an hour for my game to start.)

he shuffled the cards both in that slick casino style, then by mixing them around on the table. the first four cards he dealt (for initial position) were the 5, 6, 7 and 8 of clubs. he shook his head, gathered the cards, shuffled them again, then re-dealt. two nothing cards, then i got the ace of spades. i didn’t know suit came into play when finding the button, but it does. he shook his head again, and picked up the cards.

the only card for me is the ace of spades!

i’ve never seen dealing for position have to happen twice, and not get through either time.

and this little story is reminding me way too much of justin wilson telling a joke...
